All About Ingrown Hairs on the Bikini Line

Much of the same products and regimens used for breakouts on other areas of the body also apply in the case of ingrown hairs around the bikini line.  However, the blemishes that occur there are not always the same type between one person and another.

Ingrown Hairs With Blackhead Material

Some ingrown hairs involve build-up of a mixture of dead skin cells and solidified oil, resulting in blackhead-like plugs that prevent hair from coming through properly.  This results mainly from pressure, like tight jeans or pantyhose, or crossing one's legs for long periods, and is typical of people with skin that is not necessarily sensitive.

The remedy for this is the use of a Glycolic-Lactic Acid (AHA) wash using exfoliating gloves or cloth, followed by a Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) lotion.  In this case 5% is recommended.  If your skin often feels dry there, you should also use an AHA lotion in conjunction with your BPO lotion, using the BPO at night, and the lotion in the morning.  Since BPO can get a little drying, you may use your BPO lotion every other night if that happens.  In any case, the AHA lotion should be used every day, though it must not be used from 3 days before to 3 days after waxing.

Ingrown Hairs With Painful Red Blemishes

Other breakouts involve irritation inside pores as a result of sensitivity to friction from jeans and mesh or lace underwear, activities like spinning and long term jogging, and even sitting for long periods of time.  This happens especially with people who have more sensitive skin.  Visible irritation develops, and blemishes appear red and numerous, and can become quite painful.

The remedy in this case is gentle exfoliation with a Glycolic-Lactic Acid (AHA) wash using exfoliating gloves or cloth, in as gentle a way as you possibly can, followed by a Mandelic Acid acne clearing serum, to purify and calm pores from inside out while flushing out dead skin cells and reducing pain.  Then, after exfoliation and hydration, to prevent as well as reduce an ingrown hair problem, a revolutionary, anti-redness, anti-irritant, moisture absorbing body powder called FerroRosa FrictionFix® is phenomenal. This amazing powder is applied all over breakout areas before getting dressed each morning, and again before working out or sitting for long periods, such as at work or long distance commuting.  Appearance of inflammation and even itching is relieved, while skin is protected from friction and pressure by absorbing moisture and oil.  **Please note that this powder only works when used daily.  As soon as it's stopped, the problem can return, but it really does work.  Consistency is key.

Want to try all three?  Try this Mandelic Acid, FerroRosa FrictionFix®and Spa Glove combo kit, the Ingrown Hair Triple Threat!

It is imperative with any kind of ingrown hair problem to make sure there is always 100% smooth cotton between the skin and anything snug or textured.  This means no thong with jeans, and no lace or mesh underwear EVER.

If you break out between the thighs, the FerroRosa FrictionFix® can be very helpful for that, too, as well as a relief for chafing.  In addition, there are web sites and stores that sell slips that are like pants, that come in short, medium and long leg lengths.
